In this paper, the authors have demonstrated that the quality factor of a ultra-low resonance generated in circular patch using metallic pin loading, can be lowered by a resistive loading. This results in very good impedance match over a wide frequency range. However the problem of significantly reduced radiation efficiency due to extremely small electrical length in the frequency of operation can be overcome by employing broadband monolithic amplifier modules. For the present case the antenna features and simulation study is presented. © 2006 IEEE.
