Every business organization is established with set of Goal(s). Strategies are plans to keep business competitive and to achieve organizational goals. Performance measures play a key role in implementing strategy and attaining organizational goal. Business Performance Management is the ability to guide the near term and long term performance through insightful and adaptive management process including close integration form strategy execution. 1.1 Rationale: This research focuses on business performance measurement practices, perceptions and problems with reference to selected top notch Indian corporate. Good quantities of studies are found on performance measures in European and US context but there was dearth of research in Indian Context. Therefore this study focuses in bridging the gap by offering description of Business performance practices. It also attempts to form basis and for further studies in Indian Context. 1.2 Objectives: (1)Examine the practices and relevance of performance measurement in Indian context with reference to select companies, (2) Evaluation of exiting measurement practices from Top Executive point of view, (3) Top Executives (controllers) perception about the importance of non-financial measures of performance, (4) Offer fresh insights to practitioners and researchers in the area of business performance measurement and provide frameworks and areas for further research in Indian context.
